Thanks for the detailed information, Kurt. I discovered I was claustrophobic when I had my first (and only) MRI - not fun. Since you live in a large metropolitan area, there should certainly be an “open advanced MRI” facility somewhere close by?

Kudos to your doctor for not just calling it idiopathic and letting things go… I hope you can get to the root cause and start feeling better and stronger.

Unfortunately, the doctor doesn't want me to use an open MRI. She says they don't have as good resolution as the tubular kind, and what we're looking for might be quite small. Oh well, I'll just take a Valium! Thanks for your concern as always, Lori!

For whatever it's worth (possibly nothing), I had an MRI in January and said when it was finished that it was the easiest medical procedure I had in my life. No one stuck needles into me or even touched me. But I appreciate that claustrophobia can make it very unpleasant. Good luck.
