Unfortunately, I've never read anything else by Vargas Llosa! I did just finish the latest novel by Tan Twan Eng, The House of Doors, and I can recommend that. I will run a review of it in three or four weeks..

The Dream of the Celt is the only one of his works that I have read. I think it's probably a good place to start.
